Last week I spoke with Brittany Smith, one-half of pop/R&B duo Brit & Alex, while they were traveling through Paris. I made sure to tell her that every article about them will probably begin by mentioning 1) They’re identical twins, and 2) You’ll remember them from a 2001 John Frieda Sheer Blonde commercial. And mine is no different.
It turns out the girls never really clicked with the modeling thing, or liked the acting they did as children.

Leftover Green Beans isn’t the food that's been sitting in your refrigerator for the past week; rather, it’s the clothing line from a San Francisco teen design duo. I was very impressed by Josy Hamren, 15, and Aza Ziegler, 16, who had four pieces from their clothing line modeled in the fashion show at Turning Green, the teen eco-fashion event I covered for ELLEgirl a few weeks ago. These girls really put together some great pieces—my favorite was the crocheted lace top dress, which looks very ‘70s flower child. I love their concept too: They raid their grandmothers’ closets and flea markets for unwanted fabrics, trims and buttons, and then turn their finds into very wanted pieces of clothing.
After the jump, check out my interview with the girls, plus their DIY tip for making your own green clothing!

Meg Cabot may be better known for her humor on paper than in person, but after just one conversation, I realized that her success is due to her spunky attitude and her own crazy life experiences. The The Princess Diaries scribe has written nearly fifty books and sold millions of copies worldwide (she’s kind of a big deal in the literary world), and yet, Meg admitted to us that she was unpopular in high school. From talking about being a feminist to getting rejected to her hilarious video reenactment of Pretty in Pink, Meg Cabot proves that authors can be funny, too. True to herself and her genre, she's all about girl power and staying young at heart – two of ELLEgirl's essential qualities.
Check out Part Two of our exclusive interview with Meg Cabot after the jump (you can read Part One here), and enter here for a chance to win a copy of her latest release, How To Be Popular.

Being eco-friendly definitely has its stereotypes: I’m guilty of thinking that it’s granola-chewing hippies (who rarely take showers and wear flowing long skirts and straw flip-flops) who are the only ones hyping this green movement. I realized I was very very wrong when I attended Turning Green, an eco-fashion show and green spa, on Friday, April 4, presented by Whole Foods and organized by a crew of smart and ambitious teens.
