Glee’s Lea Michele is known for hitting a fashionable high note both onscreen and off. Who better to turn to for BTS beauty tips than a girl who plays a student on TV? Michele got blunt bangs a couple of months ago, but they have slowly evolved into softer, sides-wept bangs. We think this works better for students, mostly because they stay out of your face, making it much easier to do your school work. Here's how to style them when you're pressed for time:
1. Squeeze a small amount of texturizing balm or mousse into your hands and distribute evenly through your (dry) bangs.
2. Curl a round brush underneath then over the bangs at an angle to the side of your face with a hairdryer on low. Don't spend too much time on this step; you want the look to be a bit haphazard.
3. Once you're happy with how your bangs contour your face, spritz with a little hairspray.
We think shaking up your look with bangs is both dramatic and commitment-free. Yes, you will have to maintain them for some time (hair dryers and straighteners are a must). However, if you aren’t really feeling them, they will grow out soon enough. In the meantime, you can accessorize your edgier cut with some edgier clothing. Calling Madonna’s Material Girl!

Photo: Getty Images Looking for a way to spice up your hair with nothing but a few minutes and one hair band? Look to Emma Roberts’ mini French side braids for inspiration. Instead of making a big French braid, keep yours close to the hairline, creating a slim braid that curls right around your ear. Then band it at the end, et voila! You have one sassy little hairstyle. For extra oomph, follow Emma’s lead and add another flirty braid behind the other ear. - Anna Cooperberg
Photo: Getty Images Miss Anne Hathaway is the epitome of Hollywood glam. So it’s no surprise that we want to snag her hairstyles. Still, these steps might take more than 5 minutes – but not too long! How do you achieve Hollywood hair? Here’s one way that you can definitely do if you only have minimal time in the morning. (To preface, we should say that this strategy works best on wavy hair.) 1. Hop in the shower (it’s good for you)! Wash thoroughly and hop out! 2. Add a dollop of smooth and anti-frizzing gel to start. Then, blow dry your hair straight – not quite pin straight but voluminous and smooth. 3. After that, tie your hair into a bun and leave it in while you do your makeup. This will help smooth out unruly hair, plus it will add a slight curl to recently blow-dried hair. 4. About 15 minutes later, unravel the bun and appreciate your new Old Hollywood locks. Use an aerosol hairspray to keep waves in place without creating a stiff look. You’re good to go! Enjoy. - Rose Walano
Photo Courtesy of Luxist Just when we thought we’d seen all we could see from celebrity perfumes, here comes another one inspired by beloved Star Wars character Princess Leia. The “Slave Leia” perfume is one of two perfumes introduced at Star Wars Celebration V in early August – the other is a men’s scent called “Eau Lando.” If all you know about Leia is her penchant for a braided hairstyle, you’re probably wondering why the perfume’s called “Slave Lea.” Well, let’s just say it all goes back to when Princess Leia, played by actress Carrie Fisher, was imprisoned by Jabba the Hutt. The chain on the bottle reminds us of the one she wore during her period of imprisonment, along with her metal bikini. While being a slave to a giant fleshy mound isn’t the best situation at all, the perfume sounds sultry and soft, with notes of heliotrope, musk, jasmine, white peach, lily, and bergamot.

The warm, woody color is exactly what we are craving for fall. Luckily, you don’t need Julia’s celebrity stylist to get her hue; we’ve found boxed brands that share her shade!

Photo Courtesy of Emma Watson Emma Watson, famous for playing wild-haired Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has chopped off her locks. The English actress debuted her new ‘do on Facebook, and it’s quite a dramatic departure! Says Emma, “Cut my hair off a few days ago… [it] feels incredible. I love it. I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever.” Here at ELLEgirl, we think the pixie cut suits her really well. Apparently she visited stylist Rodney Cutler, who took hold of her ponytail and chopped it off. If that’s not liberation in the name of hairstyling, we don’t know what is! Emma further explained her choice in another statement, saying, “I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through. I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’” We know our teenage years wouldn’t have been the same without experimentation in the name of fashion and beauty, so we’re glad Emma’s experiencing it too. - Anna Cooperberg
Photo: Courtesy of Retna To all you gleeks out there who swoon over Mr. Schu every week, you better think a shaved head is sexy or you’re not going to like the Britney Spears episode airing this September. Word is that Matthew Morrison’s Glee character will be paying tribute to the pop princess by copying her 2007 hairdo… you know, the bald one!
The actor made some anti-Britney comments when the Spears-isode rumors broke, saying her music would not be featured on the show. Ironically, Mr. Shu will also be against the diva’s sound infiltrating his precious glee club.
