Fall 2010 Beauty Looks for Back to School

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to play around with fall's makeup trends. Whether you're a no-nonsense gal when it comes to color or an experienced beauty buff, we've got a new look for you to try this fall season. The hottest lips vary from electric tangerine to matte nudes, while unusual updos battle undone-and-down for the title of season’s signature style. Below, we show you how to copycat these class acts. Party Like It’s 1990

But not in the way you think (step away from the scrunchy!). Grunge goes luxe with strong, smudgy eyes from Diane von Furstenberg, Derek Lam, and Zac Posen. It’s a step further than the smokey eye, but not a single sultry note is underplayed. DVF’s look paired major peepers with a barely-there lip. Derek Lam added extra color with a warm, burnt-hued pout.  Try either variation on the bold eyed look, but be sure to keep the skin as minimal as your complexion allows. Try L'Oreal's Hip Matte Shadow Duo in poppy for a down-and-dirty blend of natural color.

Orange Kiss

Vena Cava and Tory Burch were among those who spiked models’ mouths with orange color at fashion week.  Copper shadows are always an easy match for any bold lip, but we suggest under-doing the eyes and letting this arancia bird sing. Copy Vena Cava's redish tint with Boot's No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in Sienna.

Get It Twisted

This season is all about giving good face. Pull your hair back in Michael Kors’ frazzled pony, or take your strands for a spin with a spiraling chignon like those from Georges Chakra. And for designers like Alexander Wang, no shower means no problem. If you want to keep locks loose this autumn, keep them messy, undone, and maybe even unwashed. Style limp locks with a texturizing balm like Jonathan Anton's "Dirt."

Stow away your bronzers and blushes ‘til spring. The piece de resistance of fall beauty is the nothing-on-my-skin look of Alberta Ferretti and Bottega Veneta. Invest in a good skincare regimen (like Zapzyt's acne pack) because this fall the only thing you’ll be putting on your face is a pair of sunglasses.
