Whether we welcome it or not, ‘tis the season to start some back-to-school shopping. Yes, clothes are a priority of every girl’s list. But let’s not forget that school is about studying, which inevitably leads to a pile of books in your lockers. You’ll need to get them home, but you might not necessarily want the traditional backpack. Depending on your personal style—and at ELLEgirl, we’re all about personal style—you may go for a satchel or a funky laptop case for you techies. Here, we explore our five favorite bags for the back-to-school season.

First up is the cool laptop case. Just because you’re a tech goddess doesn’t mean you’re a dud! Try this iSkin laptop carrier ($150) in its Happy Friends design. Its edgy anime designs are colorful and cool, making your look just as fresh as your skills. It also has side pockets, for the additional (gasp!) handwritten notes you might take. Cheap and chic alternative: GGI Ladies Laptop Totebag in Black and Pink (B&H Foto & Electronics Corp., $14.99)

Looking for a traditional backpack? Look no further than JanSport’s Radical Rose backpack (Gear Hut, $34.99). The design takes a classically feminine symbol and gives it a modern touch by bathing it in blue and adding lime green paintball marks. The back panel is screened with a padded, light blue rose, adding both comfort and beauty to the design. Two straps give your back extra support, and the turquoise color is an easy match for BTS staple: blue jeans. Cheap and chic alternative: Trans by JanSport Prance in White (Target, $29.99)

Of course, as long as you distribute your weight in both arms, the one-shoulder messenger back is also immensely popular and chic. We like this one from Juicy Couture ($198), dressed in heather grey velour and embroidered with a golden heart. The bag has both a shorter leather strap and longer, adjustable cloth strap, allowing you to easily take the bag from day to night, work to play. And the gold hardware is a classy touch. Cheap and chic alternative: Ducti Hell Storm Messenger Bag (ebags, $38.36)

If you’re more of a romantic and prefer a flirtier look, a durable character tote disguised as a purse might tickle your fancy. This Coach tote ($198), adorned with the adorable character Pepper, is canvas with a letter trim. Notebooks will fit easily, while a cell phone pocket will keep you in touch. Just don’t text in class! Cheap and chic alternative: Loungefly Disney Snow White Tote (ebags, $52)

And don’t forget about your lunch! While we appreciate all those years Mom packed our sandwiches in brown paper bags, these striped lunch bags from Dooney & Bourke ($30) are absolutely delicious. Made out of flexible acrylic, the bags are both stylish and easy to clean. And they are a steal at only $30! Cheap and chic alternative: Embark Reusable Lunch Bag (3 pack) (Target, $4.74)

Those are awesome! I found some that even i like!
