For anyone watching the Grammys last weekend, Taylor Swift’s performance was, well, at best a snore. At worst, it was a pitchy disaster. Judging from Kelly Clarkson’s blog post yesterday, she was also watching…and she didn’t like it either.
Clarkson wrote an open letter to Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta, the head of Swift’s label, in response to his comments defending Swift’s performance. In an interview with the Associated Press, Borchetta said, “This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator.”
Clarkson took that personally. Writing as “one of those contestants from American Idol who only made it because of her high notes,” she said, “we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well.” Ouch. But Swift might as well thank Borchetta for his anti-Idol comments, because, otherwise, we’d still be focusing on those missed notes.
Did you catch the Grammys last weekend? What did you think of Swift’s performance? Tell us in the comments!

I am a huge Tswift fan... yes i agree her performance was not up to par but shes not focusing on her vocal performance as much as she is focusing on her message to other shes telling a story and gets carried away with it. she can sing but she just doesnt nail it all the time because she is thinking about telling the story and making the performance worth watching. I went to one of her concerts and she sound so good but of the tv its just not right so please DONT HATE!!

I agree with everything keepingitreal said. She's a good songwriter, but a bad singer!

I saw the Grammys and Taylor's performance was AWFUL. Today Was A Fairytale was weak - she was missing the low notes. Then she started in on Rhiannon with Stevie Nicks when Taylor tried to go up for "All my life" it was painful. She was off key for most of that one. Then they went on to You Belong With Me. That one started off OK but Taylor went off key again and you could really tell that Stevie Nicks was not happy to be up there on stage with her.
If this had just been one off night it'd be one thing. But the reality is Taylor isn't a good live singer and pretty much all her TV performances have been bad. She was off key at the CMAs especially on Forever & Always, she was bad on SNL, she sounded bad at the Hope For Haiti telethon, she wasn't good on Dancing With The Stars, at the 2008 CMAs when she sang Love Story it was pretty bad, and so on. She's just a bad singer.
I think Taylor's popular because any girl can sing her songs at least as well if not better than she can. The difference is those girls aren't making millions of dollars doing it. It's obvious by now that her record producer has to use lots of technology to make Taylor sound good in studio and that kind of makes her a fake.
