Fame, Kevin Tancharoen’s revamped
version of Alan Parker’s Oscar-winning ode to teen ambition, hits
theaters next week. Yesterday, I accompanied two of its stunning stars,
Kherington Payne and Kay Panabaker, to NYC’s Kenneth Salon at the
Waldorf Astoria, where they consulted Sephora makeup artists Christine
Egashira and Jennie Carranza about looks for the much-anticipated
movie’s red carpet premiere on Wednesday.
Though Payne had yet
to find a dress, she cited Megan Fox as a source of sartorial
inspiration—which prompted Egashira to suggest a bold red lip and smoky
eye. She began by hydrating Payne’s skin
with Make Up For Ever HD Elixer, following with primer, foundation, and
Temptu Retouch powder. She then created contour under the cheekbones
with Guerlain bronzer in Brunette, and added color to the cheeks with
Lorac blush in Exposed. For the eyes, she patted Sephora Universal
Beige shadow on the browbone “to give it a polished highlight without
being shimmery” and used black shadow on the lid. Finally, she lined
and shaded Payne’s lips with Givenchy liner, and blended Kat Von D’s
Hellbent red lipstick with a burgundy shade for depth. “I didn’t think
I was a red-lip kind of girl, but I absolutely love it,” said Payne.
Panabaker, who said she wanted to keep her look “dramatic, sophisticated, and elegant, but not trashy or sexy,” had already picked out a dress—a flowy number from Ports 1961 in a palette of burnt-orange and eggplant-purple. Carranza decided to complement these colors with natural peach and brown hues—and play up Panabaker’s green peepers with a soft cat-eye shape. She enhanced the eyes with a gold powder shimmer from Sephora, adding a hint of peach shadow, and two deep brown shades at the corners. She lined the eyes with Make Up For Ever Aquawear waterproof liner and then a layer of YSL liquid liner, winged our for a sultry effect. Lips were kept a subtle nude shade with Givenchy liner, Bare Essentials gloss, and Benefit lipstick in Lady's Choice.
Stay tuned to find out whether the actresses stick with these looks for Wednesday's premiere!

I saw the movie "Fame" on opening day this past friday. And I was blown away by the performance of all of the characters. I was definately impress with the dancing and singing. Although I've seen all of the original scenes of fame growing up, I was so excited when I saw the previews of fame this summer when I was waiting to buy a ticket for another movie, and could not wait for "Fame" the movie to come to the theater. I wanted to start dancing right there in the theater.
