Jessica Harp wowed the crowd at an intimate concert last week in NYC with her funky country flair and downright sassy attitude. The southern beauty used to be one half of the Grammy nominated duo The Wreckers, with her longtime friend Michelle Branch, but now she's debuting her very own solo album A Woman Needs, due out this September. The petite singer kept her wardrobe simple but with a kick, just like her stage persona, performing in a white button-down vest, black tee, dark jeans and killer gold stilettos. She had a five-man band backing her, but the songstress didn't seem to need an ounce of help, belting out songs both old and new about love, break-ups, good times, and even one toe-tapping number that she called her Irish jig. Harp kept the crowd pumped, later convincing a fan to join her in singing the words to her and Michelle’s #1 hit, “Leave the Pieces.” The country darling clearly felt comfortable on stage and even teased those sitting nearby that she was restraining herself from coming over and dancing on their tables! (The funny thing is, judging from her fun-loving persona we can totally see her doing this!). As the night came to a close, she decided to slow things down a bit with the song “Love Letter.” Introducing the song nearly made the singer cry as she explained that the lyrics were about her family. “Why am I getting all emotional?” the singer asked through a cracked voice right before she sang. Clearly this talented songbird has both heart and soul.
