Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick is the new face of K-Swiss, the iconic sports brand known for their famously all-white sneakers. Sources reveal that the campaign is "very Brit cool, blending tennis and music," and that Ed will be featured in print ads holding tennis balls, rackets, and guitars. Hmm… sounds like the perfect mix between the Brit’s real-life rocker aesthetic (he’s the lead singer in The Filthy Youth) and his preppy character, Chuck Bass.
The question is can Ed make the sporty sneakers rocker-chic? Up until now, K-Swiss has been more popular with preppy athletes than Indie rockers. And anyone who’s seen the culture clashes on Gossip Girl knows that “preppy” and “rock” might have trouble co-existing. However, for our part, we believe! Especially after hearing Ed’s vocals in the upcoming K-Swiss TV commercial (he’ll be singing his band’s song, “Come Flash All You Ladies”)… - Natasha
