Did you know there's a whole "movement" (if you want to call it that) trying to make it acceptable for men to rock pantyhose? Yeah, there's a website called (cue snickering) e-MANcipate that aims to "accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item." Uh oh.
Here's what StyleSpleak users had to say about this rather unorthodox fashion statement:
ambiturner says: Uhh, pantyhose for men? What's next, makeup for men? Oh yeah, they already have that. Ladies and gentlemen, the era of the real man has ended. The man of today is a facial-scrub-using, manpurse-carrying, pantyhose-wearing Metrosexual.
wOnky says: There's actually a UK-based ecommerce site called tights-for-men.com that sells a bunch of old lady-looking pantyhose for the man who has no sense of self-worth or dignity. Seriously, haven't people ever heard of long underwear? That's what people should wear when it's cold!

Somebody asked: "Why do men wear pantyhose? They don't wear skirts nor dresses. What's the use? Well, I wear them under my trousers, but also wear them with shorts. And why? It feels good! Unlike some stories from women-pantyhose haters who say that they don't fit, the pantyhoses I wear fit very well!!

I'd like to draw attention to an extract from an article written in 1897 within the New York Times, where a Miss Penrose had the audacity to wear trousers on Coney Island:
"
'Your Honour,' said Miss Penrose to Judge Nostrand yesterday morning, 'my arrest is an outrage. I have a right to wear trousers if I wish.'
The Judge looked at her curiously. 'Not on this Island,' said he. 'It's against the law, and, at the same time, highly improper. I'll have to hold you in $200 for frial.'
Robert Burkhardt, a saloon keeper at the island, gave bail for her, and she walked out with a parting injunction from the court to change her attire.
"
This is just one of thousands upon thousands of similar articles stretching through the 19th & 20th centuries.
As you can see, human beings do not learn from their past.

I love pantyhose! I'm a straight man, 35 yo, and I find it a very useful and comfortable to wear tights. It's nothing feminine about it at all. Remember it started as a men's attire in the middle ages (know Robin Hood?!) :-)))
I hope people will just accept it, just as they did women in cotton socks which I hate, but won't murder anyone over it.
Seriously it's a fine thing, it is getting accepted more and more as this and similar blogs and all kind of discussions and the rising production of men's pantyhose shows.
Greetings!

i don't understand the point of these, really. i mean, you only wear pantyhose with shirts and dresses. otherwise, why would you need tights? this may just be becuase of the fact that i live in new hampshire, but you don't see many guys in skirts or dresses here. unless you see the occasional drag queen. and i think they would be the only ones with a plausible reason to wear these. i don't mean to be offensive, i'm just trying to look at it logically.

Ummm... Ok... pantyhose.... I'm not judging anybody for wearing what ever they want, even if they decide to wear pantyhose and this person is a man. However, aside from the functional aspect (Yes, people, clothes have some functional aspect attached to them)... what about the aesthetic aspect???.. I mean... lets imagine that there is some man outside there who would willingly put on a pantyhose... what would happen if this person.. and please do forgive me for the comment... got sexually aroused? Or more colloquially... if this guy got a boner????? That would be nasty!!!!
