Men in Tights
Did you know there's a whole "movement" (if you want to call it that) trying to make it acceptable for men to rock pantyhose? Yeah, there's a website called (cue snickering) e-MANcipate that aims to "accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item." Uh oh.
Here's what StyleSpleak users had to say about this rather unorthodox fashion statement:
ambiturner says: Uhh, pantyhose for men? What's next, makeup for men? Oh yeah, they already have that. Ladies and gentlemen, the era of the real man has ended. The man of today is a facial-scrub-using, manpurse-carrying, pantyhose-wearing Metrosexual.
wOnky says: There's actually a UK-based ecommerce site called tights-for-men.com that sells a bunch of old lady-looking pantyhose for the man who has no sense of self-worth or dignity. Seriously, haven't people ever heard of long underwear? That's what people should wear when it's cold!

Hi! I'm 42 old straight male from Slovenia, Europe. I wear sheer tights for years.
Why is it a problem??? I can't believe this article...
Sheer nylon tights feel good, comfy and they are as masculine as anything.
Oh, and yes I also carry a shoulder bag, manpurse as you name it.
Metrosexual? Khm..if it means a noble urban gentleman that doesn't look and smell like a redneck, then I will be a metrosexual, why not!

I think the girls are just worried our legs will look better than theirs! I've seen some girls looking really bad in tights: big holes, wrinkled round the ankle etc. I certainly look better than them!
With shorts I always wear good quality sheer or semi sheer tights in a tan colour to make my legs look evenly tanned. I usually wear sandals, so I make sure my tights have sheer sandal toes. It looks good, I get positive reactions. Only the small minded don't appreciate it.

I'm 25. Male. Straight.
I wear tights and pantyhose and spandex leggings all the time. It's not a big deal. Besides, I like having my legs admired just as much as women do!

I am a 29 year old man heterosexual and i wear nylons. When did clothing become a gender specific idea?Women wear pants and socks too an no one scoffs. Now girls have been staling their fathers dress socks. I just dont see the problem becuase there is no problem lrt the people wear whatever clothing they want.

It should be no surprise that the vast majority of young women these days are so brainwashed through pop culture, fashion and reality tv that they can hardly put two thoughts together to come up with an original idea. They are spoon-fed every thought they have by American Idol and America's Next Top Model. They are told what to think by TV and magazines, and have lost all ability to form their own ideas and reach their own conclusions. It's sad to see, but the majority of women today are nothing but sheep. Most of the time, they don't even know how to be a real women. And what the F*** is with the whole skirt over pants movement. Make up your mind, are you wearing skirts or pants today?
Men wearing hose is something that has, and will continue to happen for years to come. They originated as a male garment in the 1700's anyways, it's women who stole them from us, not to mention pants, but at least we can still get away with wearing those without prejudice. And socks, give me my g*ddamn socks back b*tch! I never said you could wear those.... Seriously ladies, if you find that offensive, then now you know how you sound to us. You can keep your f'ing heels and skirts. We have kilts... Oh wait a minute, you stole those too. Poor Scottish men.

Isn't it strange how we're all blind to the stark truth that only one gender has it's clothing, behavioural, and psychlogical choices made for it and imposed throughout life. Inculcated and maintained from birth by use of ridicule, humiliation, violence and as millions of soldiers can't testify, by death. Guess which gender is most likely to commit suicide, become an alcoholic, experience homelessness, violence, become a murder victim ? Just read the utter, almost obscene, rubbish posted above from people thinking they have the right to tell complete strangers what clothing they may wear - and what their motives might be, and then tell me that women are victims of sexism. Astounding and incredible that those with complete freedom imagine that they are in any way hindered by societal norms. So then girls, if you woke up male tomorrow - having known complete freedom since birth, just how long do you think you'd want to exist before reaching for a bottle of something or other ?

I have worn pantyhose, tights, and women's clothes for years at home discretely. I am not gay and I am married. Does my spouse like it? No., but she is reasonable about it. Why do I wear them? Because I find it comfortable, sexy, and it feels good.
and yes- I am 100% straight. and BTW- I am an 18 year Soldier with 6 overseas tours and 2 combat tours with over 200 Soldiers underneath my command. I was also formerly enlisted in a combat job.

No, I'm straight men, my girlfriend loves with or without pantyhose, it's just a view of your mind, mens have legs too.
Why only womens could have comfort, warmth and beautiful legs ?
Find me only objective reason, just one !...

@emma: I dare say, Emma, that as a woman you enjoy being able to cross the gender divide with impunity. Why then would you want to mock or pass judgement on men doing the same thing?
I am a man that has worn tights/pantyhose for over thirty years and I can assure you that I am not gay!

Somebody asked: "Why do men wear pantyhose? They don't wear skirts nor dresses. What's the use? Well, I wear them under my trousers, but also wear them with shorts. And why? It feels good! Unlike some stories from women-pantyhose haters who say that they don't fit, the pantyhoses I wear fit very well!!

I'd like to draw attention to an extract from an article written in 1897 within the New York Times, where a Miss Penrose had the audacity to wear trousers on Coney Island:
"
'Your Honour,' said Miss Penrose to Judge Nostrand yesterday morning, 'my arrest is an outrage. I have a right to wear trousers if I wish.'
The Judge looked at her curiously. 'Not on this Island,' said he. 'It's against the law, and, at the same time, highly improper. I'll have to hold you in $200 for frial.'
Robert Burkhardt, a saloon keeper at the island, gave bail for her, and she walked out with a parting injunction from the court to change her attire.
"
This is just one of thousands upon thousands of similar articles stretching through the 19th & 20th centuries.
As you can see, human beings do not learn from their past.

I love pantyhose! I'm a straight man, 35 yo, and I find it a very useful and comfortable to wear tights. It's nothing feminine about it at all. Remember it started as a men's attire in the middle ages (know Robin Hood?!) :-)))
I hope people will just accept it, just as they did women in cotton socks which I hate, but won't murder anyone over it.
Seriously it's a fine thing, it is getting accepted more and more as this and similar blogs and all kind of discussions and the rising production of men's pantyhose shows.
Greetings!

i don't understand the point of these, really. i mean, you only wear pantyhose with shirts and dresses. otherwise, why would you need tights? this may just be becuase of the fact that i live in new hampshire, but you don't see many guys in skirts or dresses here. unless you see the occasional drag queen. and i think they would be the only ones with a plausible reason to wear these. i don't mean to be offensive, i'm just trying to look at it logically.

Ummm... Ok... pantyhose.... I'm not judging anybody for wearing what ever they want, even if they decide to wear pantyhose and this person is a man. However, aside from the functional aspect (Yes, people, clothes have some functional aspect attached to them)... what about the aesthetic aspect???.. I mean... lets imagine that there is some man outside there who would willingly put on a pantyhose... what would happen if this person.. and please do forgive me for the comment... got sexually aroused? Or more colloquially... if this guy got a boner????? That would be nasty!!!!
