The '80s have been back in style since...well...1990, but the decade may have finally reached its apogee: Two of the biggest pop acts from the '80s--Michael Jackson and Duran Duran--have just been covered by two of the biggest pop acts from today. First up is Fall Out Boy covering Michael Jackson's iconic "Beat It":
We think even MJ would approve. Although we're not sure what he'd say about this funk-ified cover by Amy Winehouse and Charlotte Church (we, on the other hand, love it!):
Meanwhile, on the other edge of taste, is Nicole Scherzinger (of the Pussycat Dolls) covering classic '80s synth anthem "Rio" by Duran Duran for a Caress commercial. It's an interesting choice considering that the Duran Duran boys were notoriously naughty (and Caress is shilling soap), but Nicole does a nice job of giving the song a squeaky clean--yet sassy--makeover. Check out videos for both the cover and the original below; which do you like better?
