Yesterday, I had the pleasure of popping by LA-based designer Jesse Kamm's studio. I scoped out her Fall collection and drooled over her minimal West Coast-style decor (see below, and imagine a cool breeze pouring through the open, sun-lit windows!). I love LA.
Jesse is on her 6th collection and is known for her silk prints. All the textiles are her own designs. She is a one-woman show and completely rad. She and her husband live in LA half the year and spend the other half traveling and living in nature rich places like Panama, where they surf, relax and get inspired all over again. Some people are just cool, y'know!

My favorite dress- this print is called "tortoise"
Jesse asked me if I had 10 minutes to watch the video installation presentation of her Spring '08 collection. I was blown away by the sheer creativity of the project. The short film is called LA Bloom and features Jesse's friends Alison Lohman, Marley and Samantha Shelton and her muse, the sweet-faced, curled-mouth Liesl Gaffrey-Dawson. Picture these cool-girls literally blooming out of graphic flowers, marching through a twilight zone and bicycling through the streets of Paris. I loved the video's crackled facade and my favorite part...the neon shadows. See what I mean right here: jessekamm.com
I asked Jesse why she wanted to do such a time-consuming presentation. She said she felt like this video was the perfect opportunity to bring her designs to life and stand-out in the crowd. She loved that it was her friends modeling her collection and although they all have different body types, they all look amazing. Well it worked, I was so inspired by this video presentation and felt like I got a real glimpse into Jesse's vision: designs for cool, real, creative girls.

I have been trying to get on the Jesse Kamm website with no luck. My 14 year old 5'9" loves her silk bow tunic. She is actually in surgery right now and I would love to find out where I can get her one and surprise her when she recovers. Thanks!
