Twinsies!

Ap071106051841

You know how people tend to look like their dogs? Well, the same could be said for couples. Sometimes people spend so much time together, they start to morph into the same person. And that, we fear, is what is happening to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. They're taking the whole couple-matchy thing a little too far...

Here's what CelebSpleak users had to say:

miumiuuu says: How is it that every time I see a pic of Katie, her hair is looking more and more like Tom's? They've even taken to wearing the same Ann Taylor pantsuits. Thank goodness she's like, a foot taller than he is, or they'd be almost impossible to tell apart, LOL!!

taylor says: Tom totally wears the pants in their relationship, and I guess he really likes looking at himself, b/c he's turning Katie into the girl version of him! It's creepy!  And remember when she did that interview where she said he likes seeing her in suits and stuff?? Ahhhhh!

The super-cool Jonas Brothers showed up to the 2007 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards rocking some serious suit action. As Project Runway's Tim Gunn would say, "It's a lot of look." What do you think about it? Would you want your BF to dress like that?

Here's what a couple of CelebSpleak's users had to say:

fabolous says: OK, the Jonas Brothers are HOTT and they could pretty much wear anything (or nothing at all) and I'd still love them! Besides, what's wrong with wearing a little color? I think it shows off their individuality and sets them apart in a crowd.

ellieinvogue says:
Uh, I guess the nicest thing I can say about what the Jonas Brothers were wearing to the Kids' Choice Awards is that my grandfather would be proud. Oh, and they'd fit right in at the country club. Golf anyone?

The Hills, remixed

We all practice our best Whitney faces and watch for disparities to point out on The Hills (like when Lauren's nail polish changes color in the middle of a scene), but some amazing people take it a step further. Behold, one of our favorite YouTube videos of all time, in which Vampirebruddersinc - two preteens who go by "Pakreecia" and "Ursula" (not their real names), reenact the show (even dressing up as Spencer and Justin Bobby - GENIUS):

The last line, "don't bother tuning in, because it's the same drah-ma from week to week"? Totally true, but um... we're not going out tonight. -Holly

Frida of Expression

Before we start donning our cute raincoats and hats in preparation for April's showers, Sadie has one more lady to add to the Women's History Month Cool Girls List. This last lady is none other than Frida Kahlo. Yes, the one Salma Hayek played in the awesome movie, Frida. We see Frida Kahlo's face all over the place, on bags, buttons, earrings, posters, shoes. I think I’ve even seen a few Frida Kahlo tattoos. She has become one of the dominant faces of female empowerment.  But what is it about Frida that makes her so damn cool?

Kahlo

Frida Khalo was born in 1907 in Coyacan, right outside of Mexico City, right around the time of the Mexican Revolution. The high, political energy of the revolution infused all of her future work and, in lots of different ways, it shaped her life.  The other thing that brought Frida to her future career was a horrible bus accident at 18 years old. The accident put her in a full body cast and had her bed ridden on and off for the rest of her life, as she had to endure at least 35 operations. It also led her to drop her medical schoolbooks and pick up a paintbrush. Eventually, after her parents accepted that their brilliant daughter was not going to be a doctor, they had a special easel made for her so she could paint while stuck in bed.

Most of her paintings are self-portraits, and it is clear that Mexican indigenous folk art and culture had a great influence on her work. What is so striking about her self portraits is how amazingly honest they are. She painted herself crying, she painted how she felt after her multiple miscarriages, she painted her connection to her only true love, Diego Rivera, the revolutionary Mexican muralist. Despite her countless physical and emotional set backs, Frida kept on painting. And these are the things that make her name still ring loud and clear throughout the world. Rooney's Robert Schwartzman is ...SOLOBOB (get it?)

Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman just posted a new song, "I'm a Sucka," on the MySpace page for his solo project, Solobob, and we can't stop listening to it. You shouldn't either.

The best thing about these tunes, which sound like they belong in an 80s movie (perhaps Earth Girls Are Easy...) is that you just picture Robert dorking out on a Casio. Swoon. -Holly

I wore airbrushed nails to prom.

Think white stars on nude, not glittery leopard print. It was in Brooklyn (my high school, not my prom) and it was still technically the '90s, so leave me alone. Anyway, I couldn't sleep on Saturday night, which was kind of a bummer, until Earth Girls Are Easy came on - a cinematic classic of the modern age. I never realized how much amazingness in the acrylic nail department went on during that "Brand New Girl" sequence before! Oh. Em. Gee. I think this is what inspires Rihanna and our girl Katy Perry. And, um, ME. -Holly

Do you like this S&M Look?

Rr

Gotta hand it to Rihanna for rockin' some fierce style that most people wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. But would you have the guts to wear it?

Here's what CelebSpleak users had to say about it:

roxii says:
Well, on the plus side, if she walks around the streets like this, I'm pretty sure no one is going to try and steal her purse. She looks like she'd bust out some serious Ninja Warrior moves on you. On the flipside, she looks about as approachable as a member of the Hells Angels. Think this could be what's scaring off Chris?

angelinalola says: I have to say the hair is a little incongruous with this outfit. It looks like someone pasted a choir boy's head onto a dominatrix's body...to spectacular and frightening effect. Would u have the guts to rock this look NOT on Halloween?

Pretty in Pink Gets Doll'd

It's hard to pick a fave among the now-classic '80s teen movie oeuvre; there's Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club, to name a few. But my appreciation for Pretty in Pink increased two-fold when I saw this "interpretation." Meg Cabot, writer of teen classics like The Princess Diaries, used her old dolls to reenact one of the major scenes in the Molly Ringwald flick. Compare it with the actual film's trailer; I think she nailed Blane's look.

Definitely a movie to watch this weekend...like Duckie would say, I'm off like a dirty shirt!—Rebecca
